How OSI Global Saved the Superbowl!

The year was 2016, and the Denver Broncos were set to face the Carolina Panthers at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, February 7th. Both teams had just come off dramatic regular seasons, the Panthers with a 15–1 record, racking up the league’s top offense, and the Broncos coming in with the league’s top defense. It was Super Bowl 50, the “golden anniversary”, and nearly 112 million people were tuning in to watch the showdown live on TV.

Behind the scenes, another type of showdown was brewing. The organization responsible for the technology infrastructure support for the entire stadium, was panicking after realizing that the order of 100 10G LRs optics they placed from a large vendor was suddenly delayed, and due to be delivered on Monday – the day after the Super Bowl. What would happen to the Super Bowl if they couldn’t get optics? The organization didn’t want to find out!

The company, knowing they couldn’t very well request that the game be delayed by a day, reached out to OSI, pleading for assistance. The OSI Account Executive immediately sent out a call to other OSI employees who were available on the weekend, and Christian, OSI Global’s CEO, went directly over to OSI Operations, gathered the SFP-10G-LR-S-OSI order, and gave it to yet a different employee, who drove it 4 hours up to Santa Clara the same day, scoring the ‘technology touchdown’ that won the network connectivity game, and the actual football game went off without a hitch, the Broncos winning 24-10.

So, did OSI really save the Super Bowl? Well, I guess it depends on who you ask. But let’s just say the customer has been a die-hard fan of OSI Global since. He says that when other network vendors attempt to solicit his business, he tells them flat out “you can’t do what OSI does for me.”
